Project & design work

Student projects.

Coursework from my first year studying interior design at the University of Salford, alongside self-initiated concepts. Every project is set in a commercial or industrial space. These are student design projects, not client commissions; boards, drawings and model photos will be added as each one is finished.

Workplace · Concept project

Ancoats Mill Workspace

A floor of a former cotton mill reimagined as a co-working studio. Exposed brick and cast-iron columns stay on show; terracotta acoustic baffles calm the volume overhead; eucalyptus-green booths give space for calls and focus work.

Focus
Adaptive reuse · acoustics · zoning
Materials
Reclaimed brick, blackened steel, wool felt, oak

Hospitality · Year 1 coursework

Quays Espresso Bar

A compact espresso bar for Salford Quays, planned around a fast morning queue and a slower afternoon dwell. Terracotta banquettes, a patterned tile floor and coastal-blue joinery keep it warm against the waterfront grey.

Focus
Customer flow · seating plan · brand
Materials
Encaustic tile, enamel, oiled oak

Retail · Concept project

Northern Quarter Record Shop

Crate-digging meets listening bar. Modular plywood browsers on castors clear the floor for evening events, a raised listening stage anchors the back wall, and a ceiling of salvaged sleeves turns stock into display.

Focus
Flexible retail · display · events
Materials
Birch ply, cork, powder-coated steel

Retail · Industrial · Self-initiated

Railway Arch Tile Showroom

A showroom for a fictional ceramics brand inside a Victorian railway arch. Sample walls step back through the vault, with a working glaze bench at the rear so visitors can watch the making.

Focus
Heritage fabric · showroom · craft
Materials
Lime plaster, glazed tile, galvanised steel

Workplace · Year 1 coursework

Creative Agency Office

Open studio, project rooms and a loud room for pitches. Colour zoning (terracotta for collaboration, blue for quiet) helps a team of forty find the right space for the task in hand.

Focus
Space planning · wayfinding · acoustics
Materials
Linoleum, acoustic panels, ash

Industrial workplace · Concept project

Warehouse Staff Canteen

A break space for a distribution warehouse running round-the-clock shifts. Wipe-clean surfaces that still feel warm, circadian lighting for night shifts, and planting along the loading-yard windows.

Focus
Wellbeing · durability · lighting
Materials
Terrazzo, compact laminate, cork
